breathe. eat. breathe. swallow.
breathe.
push
my
head through the surface
i pried open the door
trying to reassemble the pieces i've
been told
i felt the
skin surrounding me tingle
as though a current
had passed
through it
and for a moment it was all...
then
with a single, sickening lurch i felt sucked
in
and
emerged in a purple half night
of a landscape lying
stretched
and molten
to distant horizons
where glimmering
light spills over hills
from clouds whose tentacles
twirl
towards
me caressing my face pulsating singing
with
every grass and twig waving in serenity
fighting to leave oblivion
and get attention
i
wiped the webs off my blistered eyes
when a feathered
dragon emerged from the
shadows screaming: " See what you have been
life is but a dream."
and that i always knew
but had forgotten like so many
others before me
the
wind took me in its belly
lifted high above the
trees
over meadows and fields
to witness the birth
of a new sun
of blinding light and warmth
tumbling down to the grass
where i once again lay in flesh
still
overwhelmed with sensations
and still flooding
falling into a starry expanse
of which i had
only a fleeting glimpse
a
spiral a circle
of lovers stuck together and interweaved
and caring
for the ending has not
yet been written
so whispered a locust from
beneath the canopy
before fluttering off into the sunset: " life is but a dream"
