Four Poems by Richard Arnold

CEMETERY BY A FREEWAY

I sit astride the rotting fence
And watch an endless line of ants
Hauling bits of leaves--

Parade across the debtless dead

CORRECTION FLUID

Reverse vasectomy and

A bottle of wine in
A warm night rain.

TRILLIUMS

April thunderstorm.
Later, white flags wave in woods,
Winter surrenders.

SPRING MAPLE TREE

a galaxy of dark arms.
a thousand moons
all in the same phase:
green crescent
